South Carolina Insurance News Service is a nonprofit organization providing insurance information to consumers, companies, and the media.

We are funded by insurance companies doing business in South Carolina and are primarily concerned with insurance issues affecting the people of South Carolina.

We sponsor a number of programs throughout our state and actively participate in educational and informational programs that help inform South Carolinians. Some of our activities include:
  • Working closely with SC newspaper, TV and radio reporters on coverage of insurance stories
  • Appearing on radio and TV talk shows, answering consumer questions about insurance
  • Sending press releases to the media concerning insurance topics
  • Fielding consumer calls for insurance information
  • Monitoring SC insurance legislation and press coverage for member companies via weekly updates and press reports
  • Producing video reports on general insurance topics for SC TV stations to use on their newscasts
  • Producing insurance related Public Service Announcements for South Carolina radio and TV stations
  • Producing brochures on auto insurance, workers' compensation, teens and auto insurance and hurricane/disaster coverage
  • Providing insurance speakers to community groups and schools
  • Funding and publicizing the South Carolina Arson Hotline, 1-800-92-ARSON
  • Working closely with the SC Insurance Department, Governor's Office and other insurance groups, on general insurance projects
  • Publicizing the SC Insurance Fraud Hotline - 1-888-95-FRAUD
