Dan DeLamater Elected President of the South Carolina Insurance News Service Board of Directors

Columbia, S.C. – January 14, 2009 – The South Carolina Insurance News Service is pleased to announce the election of Dan Delamater, vice president, underwriting, Southern Mutual Insurance Company as the 2009 president of the South Carolina Insurance News Service, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate consumers and the media about property and casualty insurance issues. He succeeds Steve Bloss of Companion Property and Casualty Insurance Company as the new president of the board of directors.

Joe Termini, general counsel, GEICO Insurance Company, is the association's vice president; Jim Ayres, regional vice president, Utica National Insurance Company, is treasurer; and Susan Ziolkowski, assistant vice president, Grange Insurance Company, is secretary.

Mr. DeLamater received his Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a concentration in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He has been employed in the property and casualty industry for 14 years, including nine with Southern Mutual Insurance Company (SMIC). He has served as vice president of underwriting for SMIC for seven years.

Mr. DeLamater is vice president of the Georgia Association of Property and Casualty Insurance Companies. He is currently a member of Insurance Services Office Inc.’s Personal Property Panel and is a past president of the Athens SERTOMA Club. He is married to Coreen (Genteman) with two children, Amelia and Braden.

For more than 30 years, the South Carolina Insurance News Service, a nonprofit organization, has been providing free insurance information to consumers and the media about property and casualty insurance issues. The News Service is funded by insurance companies doing business in South Carolina.
